The weekend is here, and the theaters finally noticed.
The big one is Resident Evil. Director Zach Cregger takes on the zombie franchise with Austin Abrams as a medical courier trapped in a night of chaos — rated R, and the widest release of the weekend.
Also new: The Weight, a crime thriller with Ethan Hawke and Russell Crowe; Shaun the Sheep: The Beast of Mossy Bottom for the family crowd; Angelina Jolie directs Salma Hayek in Without Blood; and Johnny Knoxville is back with Tiny Fugitives. There is genuinely something for everyone, which almost never happens in September.
And if none of that appeals, Batman — the 1989 one — is back in theaters for Batman Day. Michael Keaton never gets old.
