Support the Blog

If you’ve been around here a while, you know how this works: I write about whatever’s actually on my mind. Yankees baseball. Iowa weather. Small-town life. The occasional story I probably shouldn’t tell out loud. None of it is behind a paywall, and that’s not going to change.

But “free to read” isn’t the same as free to make. Keeping this blog running costs real money every month — site hosting, the domain name, and the email tools that get the newsletter to your inbox. And a lot of what I write doesn’t happen at my kitchen table. It happens on the road: gas money crisscrossing Iowa, tickets to the games and fairs I cover, and the occasional motel room when a story takes me farther than a day trip.

Where your support goes

  • Keeping the site up — hosting, the domain, and the newsletter tools it takes to publish week after week.
  • Getting the story — fuel, mileage, tickets, and the occasional overnight when I’m out chasing new content around the Midwest.
  • That’s what this page is for. If the blog has ever been worth a few bucks to you — if a post made you laugh, made you think, or just made a long drive go a little faster — you can put some gas in the tank below. One-time, monthly, or yearly, whatever works for you. Every dollar goes straight back into this thing.

And if you’d rather not, honestly, no hard feelings. Keep reading, keep commenting, keep telling people about the blog. That helps too.
