The Redd Blog Newsletter — Issue #1 | June 2026

June snuck up on me. One minute I’m watching the snow finally leave and the next I’m sweating through a tank top at 9 AM wondering why I live somewhere that skips spring entirely. Freelance work has been picking up — finally — which is good because it means I can stop doom-scrolling my bank account at midnight. I’m good. A little tired. A lot caffeinated. The usual.

Post of the Month

This month I wrote about the job I finally left after three years — the harassment, the managers who blamed me for it, and the completely unexpected industry I landed in on the other side. It’s not a comeback story so much as a getting-out story, and I think a lot of you will recognize something in it.

The Hot Take

The Yankees are rolling and people are being weirdly low-key about it. Cam Schlittler has been one of the best stories in baseball this year and nobody outside Yankees Twitter is talking about him. Give credit where it’s due in June.

Also — Bitcoin dipped below $80K earlier this month and the panic was immediate and exhausting. If you’ve been in crypto longer than six months, you’ve seen this before. Breathe.

Midwest Moment

Iowa in June means one thing before anything else: Casey’s breakfast pizza. I know how that sounds. I don’t care. If you’re passing through on I-35 and you skip it, you made the wrong call. It’s a gas station. It’s a cultural institution. These things are not mutually exclusive in Iowa.

Currently Into

  • Listening to: Chappell Roan’s Coachella set on YouTube — watched it an embarrassing number of times.
  • Watching: Euphoria Season 3 finale. I have feelings.
  • Using: A $12 Stanley knockoff from Walmart I’ve had three weeks and genuinely love. Not everything needs to be expensive.

Before You Go

Thanks for being here for issue one. Next month I’m writing about a road trip to the Loess Hills — Iowa’s weird, beautiful, underrated stretch along the Missouri River. Should be a good one.

If you like what you read here, you can support The Redd Blog for $1.99/month — less than a gas station coffee, though honestly not by much at Casey’s. Paid subscribers get early access to posts and the occasional unhinged bonus edition I won’t put on the public blog.
