If you’re going to try and enter the world of transcription, I highly recommend you get a foot pedal. Sure, most software can utilize the F keys at the top of the keyboard, but that still isn’t quite as handy as not having to use your hands at all. Doesn’t matter which side is dominant. You can switch up the “keys” on the foot pedal within the software.

I purchased the one that comes with the Express Scribe software, and it all works like a dream. I have already cut my time substantially due to using the foot pedal.
